Download the App from the Apple App Store.
Two years ago we started monitoring how mobile applications can assist our personal growth. There are many good tracking apps for specialized use cases like logging your time, mood, caloric intake, sleep patterns, or even sexual activity. But as of now none of these apps are flexible or customizable enough to support the niche experiments we conducted here at Ubermind. We also found, that there are many apps for general habit tracking. But their focus is improving common, ongoing routines, not the individual, time-bound, project-based endeavors we are after. In some cases, there are even apps to be found, that allow tracking self-experiments. Unfortunately, such apps are rare, have a very narrow focus, and — more often than not — are of poor quality since they were not built by professional software engineers.
That is why we came up with the idea of writing our own application. We were in the lucky position that we not only had experience with building web pages (like the Ubermind blog) but also on how to craft native iOS applications. So now, after two years of ideation, prototyping, and implementing what we think best supports our requirements, we finally released what we call the Ubermind Experiment Tracker.
The main goal of the app is to support you in your personal growth projects, that is
- self-experiments to verify personally relevant hypotheses
- X-day challenges to gain discipline & crush limiting believes
- unguided explorations into uncharted territory to expand your horizon
In order to achieve these goals, the app needed to be very customizable, which comes with a slight drawback: it takes a little time to get used to it. So be vary, that you probably need a couple of minutes to fully understand it. If you need help, we are here for you!
A quick tutorial and introduction on how to use the app can be found here:
If you like the app and want to support our development of it, you can join the Ubermind Experiment Tracker Beta program. If you opt-in here, instead of waiting for new updates on the App Store, you get all-new, experimental features on day one and also can easily send feedback (bugs, feature requests, …) to us from within the app.
Any recommendations and ideas on how to improve the app to be useful for more people are very welcome. Just use the Testflight feedback function or drop a quick e-mail to dennis [at] ubermind [dot] de.
Our philosophy behind the Ubermid app is simple:
- No sponsoring (we don’t do it for the money, but to help)
- No advertising (we don’t sell, neither to you nor ourselves)
- No analytics (we allow you to track yourself, but we don’t track you)
- No push notifications (we don’t distract you)
In doing what we do, we stand on the shoulder of giants, and we want to give back for what we have been given.
